A YEAR OF REMEMBRANCE
AND OF VIGILANCE
REMEMBRANCE, because of the ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day and of the Battle of Normandy;
VIGILANCE, because many schools are asked to share the memories of the war, but can we, teachers and pupils alike, realize what this implies? There is always the risk of being exploited for communication more than for good reasons.

This Spring 2024, the editor OREP Éditions has republished the book of accounts of WW2, adding the story of Elizabeth O'Donohoe (click to see the video), "a child in wartime".
That is why we, as teachers, must make sure we work with partners who have the intersts of the young as well as of history & memory at mind.
The local archivist in Évreux, Élodie Boquet, the Amicale de Mauthausen, or France Bleu-Normandie (a local radio) have been truthful partners this year, and for some time now
